Kendra Says:

Today has been a lazy day! Everyday we have been driving or walking or biking and not doing too much relaxing.  As well, we have been in the heat and sun for too long and needed a day of R&R and A/C.  We slept in this morning, went for breakfast around 11am and then went for a swim in the Ocean!  Its a strange sensation to walk into such a large body of water that feels like bath water, its so warm! Oh and salty! The waves were not nearly as large as in Virginia Beach, which was nice because we could just swim!  After swimming, we went back to the hotel room... and I napped. It was awesome!  Alex got work done on some treatments, he is always on Rawfootage time, even on Tybee Island.

We just came back from dinner at Fannie's on the Beach!  It was super tasty! While enjoyed our nachos and pizza we made a few general observations about our American friends.  There seems to be more complaining and jumping to conclusions, not a lot more, just enough that we noticed it. Oh and we also experienced another example of non-southern charm that we've been encountering... there was an old lady sitting behind us at the restaurant, she looked about 85.  When she sat down she announced how "fucking" hot it was in the restaurant then Alex noticed she was flipping off the waiting staff, we assumed they were locals who knew the staff very well... fingers crossed!

So now we're off to take some pictures of the beach and look around the pier!

Yikes... We're down south, thats for damn sure!
We just came back from our walk up the pier... hmm. I was a good girl!  So we are walking towards the pier and hear live music! Excellent!  As we walk onto the pier I notice a group of teenage boys dancing on a picnic table... oh boy, they aren't just enjoying the music, no they are finding the holy spirit.  Taped all along the pier, paper plates advertising a Christian band and drama group... awesome!  So we walk to the end of the pier to watch all the people fishing!  In the short time we were there we say two crabs and three baby sharks pulled up onto the pier... even though it specifically states... no fishing for sharks!  While we were enjoying the sites, an asian family came onto the pier.  While they were taking photos a young girl, about 15, approached them... you know where this is going.  She asked where they came from and they told her they were from Bangladesh.  She then asked them what religion they practiced... this is where I had to use all the strength I had to no tell her to go away and leave the family alone.  She asked if they knew about Jesus and then invited them to listen to the Jesus music. They declined... obviously.  Then she asked if they would pray with her and they declined again.  Oh, it gets worse. She then told them she was going to pray for them... and she did.  Wow.  The whole thing was shocking... and it took me back to my Waterloo days, except on campus when I told the KKK (campus crusade for Christ) to go away I didn't risk being thrown into the ocean as shark food.  After hanging out on the pier we walked up the beach.  We got some ice cream and walked back to the beach again to look for sea turtle... alas, we saw none.

Overall, Tybee Island was interesting and relaxing.  Maybe we'll see some turtles tomorrow! And we're going on a Dolphin tour in the morning... awesome!
