From Glen:
So things get a bit feral it seems during bike week, including myself - forgive my unshaven, unkempt look in any photos - but I've been camping in a dustbowl for the last two days......
Anyway, to describe Sturgis in a blog would be hard without heaps of adjectives and cliches - so my best is to keep it short and sweet.... Picture the Ekka (for my interstate and USA friends - the local 'show' or county fair).....now invite 400,000 to 500,000 people. Imagine if you will, that nearly all of them are on Harleys...apart from about five or six on sports bikes, BMWs or 'contraptions'.
Throw in a few bars and campgrounds with very little rules, hot weather and alcohol, a bit of dust, a lot of bike vendors, a few showbags..... and some great rides through the Black Hills.... and you will have Sturgis.
So getting in and around town can be interesting and fun - pedestrian traffic meets bikes....doesn't all end well, we met some great people and temporary friends, had a few good drinks at One Eyed Jacks Saloon
then off to the Loud American Road House
It is definitely the first and probably the only time I will ever see this many H-D bikes.... all in the one place. Cliff and I didn't need to fight the traffic and ride in to show off the bikes....
we caught the bus............and got to meet Wild Bill Hickok (see the attached photo)......but that's another story.
