From Cliff

We had one night at the Niagara Parkway Court Motel in Ontario Canada and squeezed heaps into our 19hr stay.  The hotel and the people who run it are fantastic, for $79 inc bf and free parking/wifi you cannot fault it.  It is about 10 mins from the main Falls area and out of the tourist trap which is refreshing and they will do anything for you.  I went to ask for a taxi into town and they said that they would drive us in and pick us up which they did (we of course gave them a tip but heaps cheaper than a cab)!!!  We had a great Japanese dinner at Taki Restaurant of sushi and soft shell crabs with a jug of Sapporo beer and also enjoyed a good cruise under the waterfalls which are amazing.
Anyway on the way home the owner told us breakfast would be available from 8am, we then mentioned that we leaving at 7am so that we could get to the ferry by 4pm and without hesitation Jolly advised that he would get up early and have it ready by 06.45 which he did with a smile.

We left a bit after 7am and rode for about 3hrs in Canada before crossing into the USA again at Sarnia, both crossings were pain free and took a couple of minutes of handing over the passports  and saying what we doing - pretty amazing crossing countries by bike!
It was then a fairly hot and boring run up the Interstate to Muskegon (405 miles/ 650km) but we had to make sure that we made the 16.45 ferry otherwise the next one was at 23.00.

Got on and strapped the bikes in and then went up to the upper deck to enjoy a couple of ales and enjoy the ride.  Lake Michigan is an amazing body of water, it is like an inland sea and about 145km across so once out of port you cannot see land for 90% of the journey.

Rode off the ferry and a 10 minute ride to our hotel for the next two nights, "The Iron Horse Hotel" which is an amazing hotel that I would reccomend to anybody coming to this part of the States.  It is an old early 1900s warehouse that has been converted into a high end bikers hotel with undercover bike parking out the front and full of great bars and friendly staff.  Had a great dinner of Tuna Tatare with a Napa white then crashed.  Chat soon, Cliffy

From Glen:
Niagara Falls area was great, the scenic Parkway (Canadian side) was a nice cool down after the long ride up New York State and Pennsylvania. I echo Cliff's words above, the Niagara Parkway Court Hotel was budget, but clean and with great hosts. It was great to do the 'Maid of the Mist' - I was still pretty hot after the ride and elected not to wear a plastic raincoat.....it was like being in a tropical downpour......at least I was cool for the rest of the night!

If you watch the video - we are unable to separate the audio for the entire film, so we kept the levels up so you could hear us talking on the boat ride, prior to that is our tour along the scenic parkway.Music credit goes to Angus and Julia Stone 'On the Road'

Cheers,
GG
