Cliff:

A short ride today from Miami to Key West, about 275km (170miles). Some really long bridges and a really laid back party sort of place. Got some good pics near 7 Mile Bridge and rolled up the jeans and put my feet in, the water was so clear and full and small to medium fish swimming around.

Really funny thing happened enroute, at one of the bridges there was a drawbridge raised up therefore creating a traffic back up. On this trip Glen and I are wearing headsets so we can talk to each other so Glen said "lets just go down the side Cliffy and we will go to the front of the queue" Copy that I offered. "lets just hope there's no cops, haha" This was followed two seconds later by a frantic call of "get back in the queue, police!!"

As we pulled in right behind the police car he was looking at us in his mirror and motioned for us to pull over off the road and proceeded to follow us in his car. He then walked straight at me really quickly looking really angry and barked "what year is your bike" I replied with a confused 'pardon'
" I just asked you what year this motorcycle was manufactured!!" he almost yelled. "ah it's an 06 mate' I said. "yeah I've got the same model, it's a 89, they are a great machine aren't they. Look boys I have to look like I am giving you a telling off as everybody saw you guys doing what you did and they saw me in my car. I would be doing the same as you if I were out riding today, pull in behind me and then when that bridge is down we can all be on our way" he said with a wink. FANTASTIC, put a really positive spin on the day. Also nil rain so an easy day, staying in really nice accom these two nights with our own rooms and catching up with planning and blog updates. Looks like another thunder storm rolling in now and we are about to watch it and the sunset from our deck with a G & T.
Really happy to be there the first time that Glen has been pulled over in his 3 yrs in the USA!

We also went to the worst bar that I have ever been to in a strip mall over the road from where we are staying. Very dodgey but an experience More soon, cheers Cliff.

Glen:
Great place and great times. Staying at the Green Parrot Resor was an excellent way for Cliff to get 'over' his jet-lag.....so he says...... seriously, going from the arrival and sleep patterns of family over the last 12months it seems that most jet lag for our Aussie families lasts  5-7 days....of which each day starts with a 4am wake up......so Cliff is a perfect candidate for Key West.... :)

Key West was a great town of contrasts and conflicts......affluent 'bums' with the worlds best tan looking for dollars and the most richest of 'pubs' looking for bums to inhabit their respective dance floors....either way, its a great place.

So we managed to go to the 'Garden of Eden' based on a friends recommendation.....we weren't told that it was a clothing optional bar.........but that it certainly was; needless to say, we were there, with clothes on...but others weren't. I'm scarred for life........ don't picture a nudist colony for Playboy bunnies....picture your Mum's retirement village going naked..... :)
