Driving the Baja in March is much prettier and greener than it was in January. Some parts are carpeted in purple flowers and in other parts the road is lined with orange and purple flowers (my old high school colours).  There must have been some rain through these parts too because it's not nearly so brown.  Our mood is also different.  On the way down it was all anticipation for our adventures.  We used to consult our English/Spanish dictionary whenever there was a highway sign. Now we find it just simpler to say "no" when asked if we speak Spanish.  At one military checkpoint, that answer got us a sigh and a wave through.  Driving back north, it’s the anticipation of home – but first a quick Disney stop.

Reflecting back on our many experiences the good by far outnumber the bad. And even our 'bad’ are pretty subjective and self-inflicted.  We were so fortunate not to have been victimized by any crime (other than over paying for a couple of hats) or to even witness any.  Even most of the prevalent graffiti was pretty inoffensive – “Jesus te amo”.  The van is a little worse for wear but he held up well enough.  You can hear my shocks creaking from a block away, I’m sure.

Cheers to all the anicdotes that didn’t make it into this blog (although I would still like to give a little shout out to the housekeeper in Puerto Escondido who wasted no time upon our check out to go into our newly vacated room and drink Jeff’s coffee… yes, he caught her in the act: “There she was like the Queen drinking Red Rose!”) and thank you to our friends and family who took the time to read this blog and even comment on it sometimes.  It was especially nice to get your messages when I was feeling that all the communication was one way.

To wrap up our time in Mexico, we pushed all the way from the lagoon to Rosarito Beach which meant we got here a day early.  And since we have a prepaid reservation here for our last night in Mexico, we’re here for two nights.  The upscale hotel next door was having a Fiesta Night for a pretty good price but when I suggested it to Jeff he answered that in his mind, he had already left Mexico.  And I agreed.

We were here for a good time not a long time (although I think we got both).  I am grateful for our camera(s – and card reader, thanks Dad) and the internet, with which I chronicled this adventure in enough detail, I hope, that not only is it sure to be memorialized but it should also save us from having to tell every story when we get home… unless you get Jeff started :)

PS: I'm feeling generous and the quiz has been cancelled.

Your blog was a great read, and I really enjoyed following your trip - though I got a bit behind when we were in Argentina - I got caught up one very early morning when I was still waking up at 4 am though. Have a safe and uneventful drive home - and enjoy Disneyland - the K-Bs sure do love that mouse!!

I'm so glad you did such an entertaining job of chronicling this expedition! It was really fun (and of course reassuring) to be able to follow your adventures so closely.

As Caroline said -- a great read! Thank you.

You're on the homestretch now. I'm sure you're all looking forward to being back at home. I have really enjoyed reading about all your adventures! I am going to miss your blog and all your funny updates... So, really you may have to start a Stay-at-home Squamish blog just so I don't go into withdrawal.

Great read, I'll miss your adventure, I guess, you'll have to make some up when you come back to do supervision so I can be entertained at my desk.
Looking forward to see you home!
À bientôt.
