This afternoon Assan gave a very insightful lecture about Gambian life. We learned that, in this predominantly Muslim country, men may have up to four wives. His father was one of 21 children in a family of four wives, but his father only has one wife because he wanted to be able to afford to send Assan and his siblings to school.
