Woke up a little late, had a good breakfast, and then headed out!
The weather was great today, light cloud cover and a breeze.
Most of the day was the usual, tall trees, streams and talking to others.
I did get a chance to talk to a father/son that do sections of the A.T. every year. The father was old school - heavy gear, external frame and big boots. The son was new school, light gear, frameless pack, and trail runners. Two ends of the spectrum - yet both having a great time.
We made a stop by Dismal Falls, a gorgeous area - absolutely worth the detour! Sat around and cooled off in the spray. Sucked leaving the area.
After a lot more miles of hot hiking, the weather finally cooled, and we arrived to a nice breeze at a really crappy campsite. It was late tho, and it was better than pushing on in the dark.

Woke up to hikers passing by at about 5am. By 6am....thunderstorms rolled in and soaked everything. Sleeping bags/clothes/packs/pads.....everything was soaked...and now it weighed an extra 7 pounds!
The hike out was great, the hiking in the thunderstorm is great.......it is the waking up to everything being wet....and packing up wet gear that sucks butt.
Finally made it to the road, hiked to town, and had real food to eat!
Is good to be warm....even if my sleeping bag is still wet. Time to crash out.
