Left Damascus early, the left leg is finally not hurting. I purchased 500mg aspirin for the right foot.

A few of the hikers got jobs, and are hanging out til Trail Days is over.

Leaving town I ran into Sweet Meat, he camped about a half mile out of town, he plans to stay another 2 days. He was already breaking up branches with his axe :-)

As I crossed the Creeper Trail to head back onto the A.T., Buesha was hitching a ride back into Damascus - a bear destroyed his tent, so he is heading back to buy a new one. He said he had put it up and walked away, and the bear destroyed it while he was away.

I caught a Racer Snake, it bit the hell outta me, there were lots of photos taken by everyone around. Met a forrest ranger, name was John - he was pretty freaked out by the blood.....he just stared at my hands. After relaxing at a pond for about 30 miles, headed up to the last shelter, before White Mountain....hung out for a few with the ladies there, they kicked me out - decided they wanted a girls only night. ......so I decided to do the extra 6 miles to the top of the mountain. Along the way, I saw a doll head on a stick (see photo below) ...it marked my buddies campsite.
I arrived at 9pm, at the top of the mountain, ate dinner....then crashed out, ended up getting in 10 solid hours of sleep! 22 miles today.

8:30 left tent.....road crossing, met the awesome family, we hiked the whole day together Robinhood kept up with me the whole day. What a kick ass family, they have no T.V. at their house and no video game consoles. The dad is a lawyer, the mom an ex lawyer - and both are the most down to earth and cool people I have met in a long time. Kudos for them raising their kids right!
After arriving at the Highlands and having dinner we had horse issues...lmbo...they kept snuggling up to everyone at the picnic table, then one of them tried to kick my butt...and then chased me across the table - around the shelter.......I ended all that by spraying water in his face.
Great day, but only 12 miles.

Good day today, hiked with the family. Robin Hood hiked with me, and we talked about snakes and the ecosystems. The kid is smart, and at only 9 years old, an excellent hiker.
As we came to the shelter, I decided to stay. The family headed on to a camp site further down the trail.

Wednesday, May 7 2014
Hiked out at 0530. Was an awesome 10 miles into Partnership shelter. The morning fog collected in the trees, and caused it to "rain" for about 45 minutes.
When I arrived at the shelter, was able to take a hot shower, and get a shuttle to town.
The group headed to Pizza Hut for their all you can eat bar - hit the spot!
Robin Hood talked about the trout he caught, and ate! He has a small fishing rod with him, and because of his age, does not need a license to fish.
After getting back to the shelter, Young Gun arrived with beer, we had a few to drink - then the Forrest Police came.....and handed out $75.00 tickets......pretty expensive beer at the point!

Headed to town, ate Chinese with a group of friends, Star Gazer and I started hiking together.
We had Trail magic, cokes/chips and supplies! Thank you trail angels - appreciated to all ends :-)
Met zig/zag today, she has a cool dog hiking with her.
There was no water for a long stretch of trail, and I ended up getting dehydrated. Took a full day to recover. We camped before shelter, stealth camped. Was a great area!

What an awesome day! The trail was smooth going, lots of great views, and I ran into a lot of hiker buddies I have not seen in a while.
Camp was met with a cool breeze and no bugs!

Saturday, may 10 2014
Zero'd at camp today, due to rain. Just layed in the tent and relaxed. Much needed after the long water deprived days.
Listened to the rain and talked to StarGazer. Was the most relaxing day in a long while.
Late in the night a large tree fell. It blocked the trail, and landed less then 100 feet from the tent. Woke my butt up in a hurry!

Sunday, may 11 2014
After some great/clear weather hiking, there was a large, dirty pond, I caught a medium size snapping turtle.....but my phone has been dead for a while - so no photo of him.
The climb up to the shelter was made easier by the lack of full sun. We ate dinner there, then kept on down the trail.
At the water source, about 2 miles down hill, StarGazer realized she left her shirts at the shelter. Her leg is busted up, so I ran back up and retrieved it. Made for a long day.....was really glad to finally get back and hike to camp.....a few miles up from the water. Great night of sleep, thanks to a great breeze!

Hiked to Bland, after a long hellishly hot hike. After arriving late to the hotel, all the food stores were closed.
Ended up grabbing some Subway, then going to bed.

Tuesday may 13 2014
Woke up, got resupply, ate at Dairy Queen.
It was a long hot hike today. Only saw 2 small Garter snakes, a baby black snake, and a dead deer - this time we did not eat it...lol!
Ended at camp after 600 mile marker :-)
