14th c. Double Bridge over Tauber River	City Councilor's Tavern on Market Square	People worldwide donated to rebuild after WW2	System of gates protected town for centuries
You can see town walls and watch towers	We walked along the town walls for free	Every hour show where mayor guzzles beer	Lee had recommended we visit; thanks!
St. Jacob's Church construction began in 1311	German Christmas Museum;Christmas stores too	Town got wealthy from textile production	Christmas town of Germany;ornaments galore
The food just didn't sound appetizing to me	Second largest town in Gernany Middle Ages	Klingen Tower completed around 1400	Each house has story;all centuries old
Town would be even better if cars were banned	Decorative fountains provided drinking water	Every building had gorgeous flowers;loved 'em	Too bad it was raining and chilly
Blue skies would have made fantastic photos	Pigeon has discovered eye makes a good house	Well-deserved UNESCO World Heritage Site	Kobolzell Church in valley dates from 1472

We missed having Lee with us	Town largely spared in WW2;interesting story	Can walk 1.5 miles along sections of wall	First castle in town constructed in 1070
Actual city founded in 1170	Ben got tired of me taking so many photos	Half-timbered houses added character to town	Many Rothenburgs in Germany; caused confusion
Market Square and Town Hall are heart of town	Night watchman tour was terrific;gave history	Medieval Crime Museum-insight into olden days	Schneeballs quite hard & can cause injuries
In 1356 an earthquake destroyed castle	500yrs of indepedence;Bavaria annexed in 1502	Rick Steve's said tons of tourists;not today	Tourist-friendly town but lacked basic stores
40% of outer buildings damaged in WW2	Market Square area not affected in WW2	Tons of Christmas stores; big business	Town would be gorgeous in winter
