Beethoven born in attic room;lived 7yrs. here
Beethoven lived in 5 different Bonn houses
Bonn is 30km south of Cologne on Rhine
Bonn University housed in great old buildings
Bonn,like Cologne, lies on both banks of the Rhine
Botanic Garden even better since it was free
Botanic garden staff doing super work here
Botanic Gardens in better shape than Poppelsdorf
Circular courtyard at Poppelsdorf now parking
City was capital of West Germany 1949-1991
Excellent botanic garden proved enjoyable
Favorite son Beethoven;born here in 1770
Germans never jaywalk;always wait for the green
Giant sequoia doing great living in Germany
Gloomy weather continues;car-free old town
Great mix of different plant environments
I am SO envious of their grass!
Large number of music festivals&Beethoven events
Long promenade leads to Poppelsdorf Palace
Lots of yellow plants to complement palace

No sign of any tourists in Bonn
Old toll station on Rhine;also longest promenade
Opera House shaped like a piano
Palace has toilets next to front door&full trash
Palace houses university mineral collection now
Planned to visit Math Museum but closed Mondays
Pretty obvious what the best way to travel is
Rococo palace completed in 1753;now univ bldg
Seems like every sight has scaffolding on it
Signs on every plant; from all over the world
This is a different variety of hibiscus
Town had many streets lined with old trees
Town's biggest church;built between 11th&13th c.
Train tickets not checked coming or going
Turtle population thriving in botanic garden
Unfortunately all of the signs were in German
University has some huge bldgs in town center
Wanted to take Rhine cruise but times didn't work
Wonder what the average Joe thought of palace
Work on JFK Bridge;current makes rafting exciting
