July 18th was our anniversary and we had big plans for the night of the 19th. Every day we smell the buffet downstairs at our hotel and so we finally decided to eat there to celebrate. This is what I had for dinner:
- 4 lobster tails
- 2 Sirloin Steak Shish Kabobs
- 4 Grilled Lamb Ribs
- 2 cuts of Prime Rib
- 5 pieces of Salmon Nigiri
- 2 pieces of Tuna Nigiri
- 2 pieces of Smoked Salmon Nigiri
- 15 approx. shrimp
- Buttered snap peas
- Honey Sweet potatoes
- Ice cream
- Fresh mango pudding
- Freshly made crepe with chocolate, strawberries and bananas
- Waffle with peanut butter sauce and chocolate shavings topped with strawberries
- Blueberry cheesecake
- Bread pudding with vanilla bean sauce
Ruth enjoyed many of the above as well as the fresh salad bar and many of the Thai dishes that were featured in the buffet. Her absolute favorites were the mango pudding, the hot waffles with chocolate shavings and peanut butter sauce and unlimited bread and brie.
Today we traveled to pick up our laundry just one stop north at Tai Po. To get to the laundry place, we had to walk through the morning market where the "housewives" go get the fresh food every morning. Ruth had a lot of fun walking through the market and especially loved the smells. We dropped off my large luggage bag packed with clothes and it cost around $10.00 for all of it. This is a lot better than the $10US/pair of pants rate the hotel provides.
There is a tropical depression, typhoon Chanthu, on the way. It should hit in full on July 22nd. Click here to follow the storm.

Could you even move after that meal? Or did you spread it out over the course of several hours so you could slowly and steadily consume their whole buffet?
The presentation looks beautiful? Did you do that, or did they prepare it per your request? My buffet plates usually look like haphazard mountains of mess.
Have fun with the Typhoon. Hope it is mildly exciting, but nothing more than that.
I loved these pictures. You guys WOULD take pictures of every plate you ate. hahaha Can you take more pictures of yourselves included in the pics!!! I want to see you guys! You're doing a great job though.... these posts are so descriptive!!! Love you both!
Wow! That was a feast fit for a king or a special couple!! The waffle looked heavenly! Happy Anniversary!
Great outdoor market! Excellent pictures. All the veggies & fruit looked much more appetizing than the pigs & fish!
Hope the storm skips your neighborhood. Take care! Love, Aunt Pam
Pig three looks like someone lost the palm of their hand on the chopping block. Love that market day.
