We arrived at the bus station in San Jose on Thursday by taxi, and spent several minutes looking around trying to find the office to buy our bus tickets.  Without success we decided to ask a taxi driver.  He didnt know what we were talking about but a scruffy homeless guy approached us carrying what smelt like a can of petrol and a half drunk cup of cold coffee.  We asked him if he knew the place we were talking about and he beckoned us down into a dark and dingy area of the bus station.  We followed the guy with caution as we thought we might get mugged or worse still he could pour the contents of that container all over us.  But his intentions were genuine and he led us to the correct place.  So i gave him 1000 colones.(about a quid) for his trouble.  We got on the bus which went for around 3 hours until we arrived at the port.  We boarded the ferry and began the hour trip across to the peninsula.

After another hour on the dusty roads we arrived in Mal Pais, and went to our hostel.
Place is pretty good, we have a double bed and private bathroom.  We immediatly went down to check out the beach.  Which as you can see from the pics is pretty nice.

Yesterday we rented a quad bike and drove it to Montezuma, which was fantastic fun, and it was really pretty driving back along the coast road. We also visited the Montezuma waterfalls, which had a really steep climb to the top, Amy decided she couldnt go any further when we reached the top as you had to hang on some rope in order to not fall off.  Amy made it unscathed to the top, but on the way back fell fully clothed into the river on a seemingly unthreatening rock. (Shes ok though)

After visiting Montezuma, we have decided to stay a few days there before going to Monteverde which are cloud covered forests in the mountains.  It will also be alot cooler.

Today is Sunday, and i think we are just going to mill around, and maybe head to the beach later when its not a million degrees.

Bye for now

Say 'Hi' to Frank please
That scruffy homeless guy was my mate, a professional architect who started travelling five months ago, so let that be a lesson to you and remember your personal hygiene please during this trip.

Ted the head torch is dead.... RIP
Dude..
I canny believe it has taken you so little time to have something pilfered - and it had to be my number one useful travelling item - i dont quite know how you are going to survive without it...

Looking at your photos brings back memories I need to block from my working brain. Please remove me from your list so that when I return from Christain Action Housing at 10:00pm after doing battle with a Mercom from hell I dont want to rate your beach photo as 'I dont like this photo because it makes me jealous!'

Anyhows, keep up the wandering... Good to hear what you are up to.

Giggidy Giggidy....
