We flew over the Mekong Delta when we flew to Phu Quok Island. Now we had a chance to explore it at ground level. Our route included travel by minibus and boat to 2 home stays, both of which were very enjoyable. The food here is quite different to the north and includes more fish and other seafood.
Other highlights included a stroll along the canals and enjoying the friendliness of the locals who gave us a sample sticky banana and coconut and peanut sweets. Joanna continues to be the centre of attention and was given one of each of the local fruits (which if you know Joanna's aversion to fruit is a bit of a laugh).
Another afternoon we went for a bike ride alongside the canals and again saw local life up close and friendly.
We visited a floating market and some small factories which made coconut sweets and puffed rice, all sampled of course.
