Our last night before returning to Hanoi was spent in a homestay in the village of Te in the Mai Chau area. This involved a 2.5 hour walk into the village, arriving late afternoon. Very picturesque. Our hosts were actaully the parents-in-law of our guide, who met his wife there while doing a similar tour - he was married 7 months ago. So it was all very friendly.
In the evening 6 of the local women came (with a large number of young kids) to entertain us with some traditional dancing. We had a great time, Joanna continuing to be a great ice-breaker and source of much comment. Brad kept the kids entertained doing magic card tricks.
In the morning another 2 or 3 hours walking out another way to the car, through lovely rice paddies and hillsides covered in bamboo etc. Unfortunately the rice has just been harvested so it seems rather brown. Also the atmosphere is very hazy.
