Well the last week has been pretty cool.  I went on Tuesday August 7th to the Volcano Pacaya, an active volcano near Antigua to climb it with a tour group.  It was so awesome.  Once I got to the top were were able to get right up close and personal to the Lava that is oozing down the side.  I even Roasted some marshmallows.  It was pretty bloody hot so I could only stay close for a few seconds, but luckily that is all it took to cook my marshmallows.  The view from the volcano was great and I was able to see some distant volcanoes as it was a fairly clear day even though I went in the afternoon which is usually cloudy and raining.  I also never knew how dense lava is, because I would through a large rock onto the lava flow and it would just bounce off and not sink in like I thought it would have.

The next day as I was walking home from school I saw Volcano Fuego erupting in the distance and tried to get some shots of it at night but they didn't turn out very well.  It was a rather extreme eruption I was told by the locals and what a show it was.  It went on for about 4-5 hrs before coming to an end at around 9:30pm.

This past weekend I went to San Pedro La Laguna that is on lake Atitlan west of Antigua.  The lake itself is a super volcano and is actually the Crater of the volcano.  I climbed Volcano San Pedro on Saturday to an Altitude of 3020m and the view of the lake was so amazing and I was lucky to have such a clear day to be up there.  The hike took about 4hrs up and 3hrs down and now my legs are pretty stiff, but well worth it.  It was also very weird seeing all the locals along the shore of the lake washing their clothes and themselves but I guess that what they do.

Thats about all I have been doing this past week but I have decided to extend my spanish for another week.  So next weekend a Me and girl from school will travel together for a little while up to Coban and then over to Roatan Island for some diving.  Well thats what the plan is right now but I will have to wait and see.

Take care everyone
