Living as an expat in a multi-cultural city like Manila, you have the opportunity to forge friendships with people from all over the world, learn about their homes and cultures, and attend functions sponsored by their social groups.  The ANZA Ball, sponsored by the Autralia-New Zealand Association, is always one of the more popular events since the ANZA members know how to party.

The ball is held at the Sofitel ballroom and is always a themed, costume event.  This year's theme was the Roaring 20's.  Some quick searches on Google lead us to ideas for how to put together proper attire from the 1920's.  Russ dressed as a Jazz Man with clothes he mostly pulled together from the closet, along with a tiny toy saxophone he found in a toy store.  Jane was one of the many flappers in an outfit (turned down hose and all) that she surprisingly managed to buy that same morning at the Metro department store.

The evening was lots of fun including dancing to an 80's rock band. I guess they figured continuing the 20's music all night would have been a bit too much considering none of us probably knew how to dance the Charleston.  One fun addition to the night was the photography set up where we could have our pictures taken with an old car as a prop.  After a few drinks, some of us got a bit creative with the poses as evidenced in the photos.
