Almost everyone knows that I'm pretty obsessed by travel. It's a passion that was ignited by a ridiculously whirlwind trip around the globe on my own just after I turned 18. Somehow I managed to fit S.E. Asia, Australia, New Zealand and a restful 2 weeks in the Cook Islands into a 3 month trip. Amazingly, practically everything ran like clockwork, but that required a lot of planning (probably too much) on my part.
I'll have been waiting almost 3 years since that trip when I am finally able embark on the journey of my dreams, and in that time I've worked and reworked an ideal outline for this trip.
First I will fly to India, Delhi specifically, and pop over the border into Pakistan, a country that I have heard so many wonderful things about but which the gutter press seem intent on portraying as a haven for "terrorism", that most over-used word. I chose Pakistan for the warmth of its people and the allure of purportedly the most spectacular mountain scenery on this Earth.
Back to India, and more mountains, this time in the form of the high altitude desert of Ladakh, along the celebrated Manali-Leh "Highway." From there, via Himachal Pradesh into typical and colorful travel brochure India in Rajasthan. After 4.5 months, here ends part 1 of this trip as I briefly fly back to the UK, before heading out for a very different part 2.
