Where I stayed
Our only stop today was Edfu temple and it was pretty crowded. We were definitely spoiled with our stops in Middle Egypt and being the only group! The temple is one of the most intact temples in Egypt. It is dedicated to Horus and Hathor and there were scenes all over the ceilings showing their pilgrimage to meet with each other every year. The blue colors in these scenes were so vibrant.
We spent a couple of hours at the temple and then headed back to the boat to cruise up to Luxor where the tour ended.
We also had to navigate through the Esna Lock where the water level is so different that they have to slowly adjust the water level down while the boat is in a watertight chamber. The boats sometimes get backed up while waiting on each other to pass through and the locals take full advantage of the docked boats. They would throw items onto the top deck followed by a small container for you to put money in and throw back to them if you were interested. The Italian group on our boat was pretty active with them and made several purchases. It was entertaining but you had to dodge random items being flung over!
After navigating the lock and watching the sunset we got ready for our last dinner of the tour.
