The Chihuahua al Pacifico Railway was started in 1850 something and wasnīt finished until 1961, if you look at the terrain that it goes through youīll understand why, itīs crazy that they even attempted it. The railway runs from Chihuahua, up through the mountains to Creel, where we boarded, then all the way to Las Mochas on the West Coast, itīs without a doubt the best journey Iīve ever done, look at the pictures and youīll see why.

The railway carves itīs way through the mountains, passing through tunnels, over canyons, lakes, and rivers. The closer you get to the coast the hotter it gets and the more tropical birds, palms, and cacti you see.

For a lot of the way the railway follows rivers, at places we saw railway carriages from derailed trains in the river.

We caught the first class train as this leaves earlier allowing you to see more of the scenery. The train has a restaurant car and a whole carriage devoted to the bar, where we spent a lot of the journey : )

We are travelling with an Aussies girl and a Welsh girl that we met in the hostel in Creel. We left the train at La Puerta and are catching a bus the rest of the way to the coast tonight.

Anyway, the pictures do it more justice that what I can write about it.
