Where I stayed
Central Coast Leagues Club
Woke up to discover that I'm even less interested in the World Cup now that England and Mexico both got beaten overnight by Germany and Argentina, respectively. Booo.
Went on a bit of a work road trip today, as today was the launch of the Unions NSW campaign for the federal election 2010 seat of Robertson, in Gosford.
Gosford is about an hour and a half away from Sydney, up the Pacific Highway, in the Central Coast region of NSW.
Six of us from the office went along. First we went to Gosford railway station, where we had a media call lined up for 3pm. We met up with some local union people there, including train drivers and station staff, and stood outside the station wearing snazzy WorkChoices Never Again campaign t-shirts, holding posters and talking to local people about the campaign until a guy from the local paper, the Central Coast Express Advocate turned up to take some pics. Check the story (and amusing pic) here on page 12: http://digitaledition.expressadvocate.com.au/ [not sure how long the online version is available for so there's a pic of it too]. Also some video footage of what went on.
Then it was down the road to the Central Coast Leagues Club to set stuff up for the launch which was due to kick off at 5.30. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone to people last week trying to build up the attendance for this event, so really hoped there would be a good turn out. And there was - we even ran out of chairs, result!
