One hour boat ride upriver we arrived to the best kept secret in the world: Muang Ngoi Neua, a little piece of utopia. The village is by the river Nam Ou, which cuts through amazing tall jungle-covered mountains. There are no motor vehicles, no roads, as boat is the only way to get here.

Bamboo bungalows with hammocks on the balconies facing the river cost 1-2 $ per night. The afternoons in this paradise where spent in the hammocks, with cold fruitshake and good book in hand. You don't want to go anywhere from here!

If hammock gets boring, there are some things to do here too. First day we hiked to a nearby cave and a village with our new spontaneous group: Marco (from earlier hike), Hue and Roy. The second day we hired a boat to take us upstream to another cave. From there we floated down in tubes for 3 hours. The scenery was simply magnificent.

Don't tell anyone that this place exists. We want it all to ourselves.
