08-11: de ochtend breng ik nog door in Tucuman en om 12:00 pak ik de bus richting Cafayate. Dit keer maar een relatief korte rit van 5,5 uur maar zeker de moeite waard. De rit gaat door de bergen, langs ravijnen en over wegen waar de bus maar net doorheen kan. Onderweg zie ik veel paarden die langs de weg staan cq lopen en ik heb geen idee wat ze doen en van wie ze zijn. Ze zien er in ieder geval goed verzorgt uit. Ook worden de eerste lamas gespot en ik kom omstreeks 17:00 aan in Cafayate. Deze plek staat bekend om zijn wijnboerderijen en er schijnt hier een ideaal klimaat voor wijnranken te zijn. Het is lekker warm en na aankomst loop ik lekker in het zonnetje op zoek naar een hostal. Ik kom uit bij Hostal del Valle dat er prachtig uitziet en boek een kamer voor twee nachten. Het is niet echt goedkoop (30 euro per nacht) maar ik ben wel toe aan wat luxe. Er staat een heerlijk schoon bed en er is een prima douche. Ik breng mijn vuile was weg naar de nabijgelegen lavanderia en ik eet een lekkere steak op het plein. Leuke plek dat Cafayate.

09:11: s-ochtends huur ik een mountainbike en fiets langs wat wijnboerderijen. Het is nog te vroeg voor wijn dus ik begeef me hierna naar de verderop gelegen waterval. Het is bloedheet en de (zand cq kiezel) weg fietst ook niet echt lekker. Na enige tijd maak ik een stop en drink wat onder een boom. Wanneer ik weer terug wil keren blijk ik een lekke band te hebben. Niet echt handig om de gehele weg terug te moeten lopen dus onderweg hou ik een pickup truck aan die toevallig voorbijrijdt. Ik vraag om een lift en dit blijkt geen probleem. De fiets gaat achterin en ik word tot vlakbij het centrale plein gebracht. Om 15:00 vertrek ik met een tourtje naar de Quebrada de Cafayate. Dit blijkt een goede keuze want het blijkt een prachtige rit. Overal prachtige rotsformaties in de meest prachtige kleuren (diverse mineralen) en vormen die zijn uitgesleten door wind en water. We stappen een aantal malen uit en maken een wandeling van zo'n 1,5 uur. Die gaat flink omhoog en voor ik het weet sta ik op een richel en kijk aan beide kanten in een ravijn. Enigsinds ongemakkelijk vervolg ik mijn weg waarbij de flinke wind ook niet echt in mijn voordeel is.  Met knikkende knietjes kom ik weer veilig beneden en vervolgen we onze weg. De prachtige tour is omstreeks 20:00 uur afgelopen en onderweg naar mijn hostel haal ik de inmiddels schone was weer op. s-Avonds eet ik wat op het centrale plein met een andere toerist die dezelfde toer heeft gemaakt. 08-11: I spend the morning  in Tucuman and at 12:00 I take the bus to Cafayate. This time only a relatively short 5.5 hours drive but well worth it. The ride goes through the mountains, ravines and along roads where the bus just pass through. Along the way I see many horses along the road and I have no idea what they do and from who they are. It's looks that someone takes care of them. I also spotted the first llamas and about 17:00 I arrived in Cafayate. This place is known for its wineries and has an ideal climate for vines to grow. From the busstation I walked into town in search for a hostel. I chosse Hostal del Valle that looks great and booked a room for two nights. It's not rather cheap (30 euros per night) but I like to have some luxury. There is a nice clean bed and a good shower. I bring my laundry  to the nearby lavanderia and I eat a nice steak on the square. Nice place that Cafayate.

9:11: In the morning I rent a bike and cycle along some wine farms. It is too early for wine, so I choose for the nearby waterfall. It is very hot and the (sand or gravel) road cycling is not really good. After some time I make a stop and a drink under a tree. When I want to return I  saw that I had a flat tire. Cause I don't want to walk the whole way back I stopped a pickup truck who passe by. I asked for a lift and this is no problem. Both the bike and me were brought near the central square. At 15:00 I departed with a tour to the Quebrada de Cafayate. This appears a good choice because it turns out to be a beautiful ride. Everywhere you see beautiful rock formations in the most beautiful colors (various minerals) and forms that have been carved by wind and water. We stopped a number of times and take a walk for 1.5 hours. Before I knew I stand on a ledge and look at both sides in a ravine. A bit uncomfortable I continue my journey and the strong winds are not really in my favor. With wobbly knees I come back down safely and we continue our trip. The beautiful tour ends on 20:00 hours  and I walk back to my hostel and meanwhile picked up the clean laundry again. In the evening I had dinner on the main square with another tourist who has made ​​the same tour. Great day in Cafayate.
