Jamie--I was initiated today.

Ty-- Yes, Jamie was initiated today as a Red Ribbon at convention. She had to stand up in front of everyone in the hall and tell them how she became a Motor Maid and a little bit about her past riding experience. 18 minutes later..... she handed the microphone off to the next Red Ribbon. For a gal who said she wasn't going to say much, well............ She did have people in stitches with her stories. She also got to hear stories from women that have been riding for longer than she has been alive. The Welcome Meeting can be very emotional. Everyone gets recognized and stands to say their name and tell where they are from. Some of the stories are very touching while others leave you holding your sides from laughter. We have a variety of seasoned and new riders all with stories to tell. We still have a few Golden Life Members in their 70s and 80s that ride to convention. Gloria Struck rode from New Jersey with her daughter. Gloria will be turning 85 tomorrow. Gloria also lost her husband 2 weeks ago. She is quite a trooper. We are a family in the Motor Maids.

Jamie again--After the red ribbon banquet I went to Cody Cycles to pick up the stator that was ordered back at the first Suzuki dealer's shop we went to in Iowa.  I then proceeded to the Cody post office to mail the stator and gasket to the shop in Atlantic, Iowa.  It looks like EbyRose will get both a new stator and a new voltage regulator.  By the way, friends, I did not talk to the Motor Maids for 18 min.!!  It was more like 5!!

Ty again-- I admit that I did exaggerate at 18 minutes. Truth be told, it was 12 minutes. Jamie believes that she is in a different time zone and time passes slower where she is!

Joan - Yes, time does move slowly when listening to long winded .... although entertaining individuals :-)  Jamie missed her calling for being a story teller.

My day was spent trying again to deal with a broken down laptop... the blue screen of hard drive death!  and all my school work stored on it.  Having to write papers while at convention sure isn't as much fun as I think it could be.  LOL  I am very thankful that Ty has a laptop I can borrow.

I am going to play a little tomorrow.  I am going to ride the Dot Robinson run which always takes us through beautiful country.  We have our parade in two towns, Powell and Cody... it's going to be amazing!  I hope we have good weather.  When I get back, I'll have to finish up some more papers.

Today I met an amazing woman who races motorcycles on the salt.  She has a Victory Vision in burgundy that she has customized.  She and her husband have a bike shop and produce a lot of custom parts for Harley and Victory bikes.  She told me a few stories about how some guys on the salt weren't sure about her racing the Vision... she showed them :-)  She's on the Vog.net too so we'll be staying in touch.  Always making new friends at convention... it's great!

Hearty Congratulations are in order for our Jamie: Hear! Hear!
Joan, a teacher has to be a storyteller, and so does a songwriter, and a singer, so I think Jamie has nailed it dead center! I didn't realize there was an initiation ceremony involved, and am doubly glad Jamie got to participate in it! Happy to hear you're all having such a great time, meeting new friends and riding your little hearts out....that should be some parade! Hope somebody takes a video of it. Anxiously awaiting more blog! Thanks.
