Hey,
Its my second week up here and I haven't been taking that many pictures. I have fallen into the daily life up here I believe. Canada is pretty much the same as the US, it just seems so much different when you come here for just a couple days i think. There is still people to not mess with, but you very rarely see them, but if you do they are usually from Vancouver or somwhere else visiting up here for no apparent reason other than to cause trouble. Someone got stabbed 2 weekends ago, and that must be the worst thing that has happend in the village. Its soo chill here, everyone is either a local, or a tourist. Many people are from Asian countries, they populate here just as Hispanics do in Aurora. Just a little info.. There are many people from across the pond as well, many Brittons, Swedish, and Germans up here. Obviously it is more packed in the winter season, because it is mainly known for its snow. I could see how a local here that has been for more than at least 10 years or their whole lives, would be pissed about the growing scene up here. In 2010, the winter olympics are going to be here, and everything is blowing up. they are widening the only road here (the sea to sky highway rt 99) to be 4 lanes across and they are building all kinds of accomodations around the village and neighboring cities. Overall, I think its pretty sad that this place is getting exploited, and I hope at least it maintains some sort of its original feel. 20 years down the road this could be a ghost town if its economy just fell off, which i could see happening. I was talking to a biker on the lift the other day: his parents bought a condo right after it was built about 5 years ago or so, right in the middle of the village. They originally bought it for $60 000. They just sold it for 1.4 million this season. in one and a half year, it will probally double in price. This is for a CONDO. a room, with a kitchen, that just happens to be in the middle of a ski town. it will be interesting to see what the realestate is up here after the olympics.
It is so nice to wake up and see the mountains. It's awesomeness (?) (for lack of a better term) has faded a bit because i see it every day now. I am looking into going out camping and hiking in the mountains. Since I've been here, I have stayed in the valley. I have not been to the top of any of these mountains. Soon, very soon. Im going to try and go camping with the boys that live in the house im staying at cause they know their way around, and camp alot around this area. Going to check out kyaking as well, maybe fishing if Rex comes out. (nudge nudge) I dont think fishing is a solo sport.
I started work yesterday (the 4th). I am a janitor, with a license to kill. Germs. I clean up the common area at a Wyndham hotel, aka the Cascade lodge. It is the best paying job that i have ever had, besides mowing lawns. thats where the real money is. Pretty boring job though, just walk around and clean stuff up like a dirt ball. Its a coincidence, because i am a dirt ball. For now. I work from 8-12 then have four hours to ride or whatever, then work 4-8. works out pretty well for my situation. I took a 15 min dip in the hot tub today after work, but I don't know if we are supposed to or not, good thing there are no managers around in the afternoon.
Well, thats all my talk for today, i feel like i am writing a paper for school, filling in with random sentences to make it look long.... its raining now, at 11:00pm, and has been for the last 2 days pretty decent. it dries really fast for some reason here, and that is good for riding.
q-tips!
