Woke up at 7.45am, breakfast at 8.30 and left the hotel at 9.30. I was still having a slight fever this morning.
We traveled to Hirsthals to crossed the Skagerrak on a ferry to the port in Christiansand, Norway. When we reached Hirsthals port, the bus drove on to the ferry and we disembarked to the passenger area above. The ferry was unlike any I have been on in the sense that seats are assigned like in a plane. The worn seats for our group were assigned randomly and the guide told us to seat as we pleased with our traveling partners within our group's seat allocation. While we sat together the most were following the seat numbers sitting with other tour members. It was until the guide repeated, did they shuffled. On the ferry, we went to the tax free shop to buy some losenges (Strepsil) I was having a bad sore throat. Lunch was cheese hotdog and garlic hotdog and cokes. Hotdog and drinks were sold as a set and in Danish was called 'menu'. The cheapest we can find at around 45DKK each.
We landed on Christiansand, Norway 2hrs later. My Nokia 7250 quickly chimed a welcome to Norway SMS from Telenor.
Norway's landscape was immediately rocky. She welcomed us in her typical style - It was raining. I believe rain falls in Norway 250 out of 365 days. From Christiansand, we cut through Norway to make our way to Stavanger. Our hotel was situated near Lake Breiavatnet and the Stavanger Domkirke (Church) and our room had a spectucular view of the lake with a fountain. The room itself was so cosy that we had to take photographs of it. The room even had a kettle which is absent in most hotels in Scandinavia. That night, after dinner and doing our laundry, we partied away in our room with our supply of Tom Yam flavoured Cup Noodles. It was our first taste of chili after so long. Boring CNN was repeating news of Iraq independence. I believe it was tonight when I watched the Euro 2004 match where England lost its match by a penalty shootout.
