G'Day! So, after a 3.5 hr, we arrived at Pearson Int'l Airport, Canada's largest airport. The Air Canada flight, where passengers are nickel and dimed to death by paying for everything except a drink, was rather uneventful. As a result, passengers bring their own KFC buckets of chicken or Big Mac Meals or left overs from home on the plane instead of spending $10 for an in flight sandwich. Personally, I believe there's a market for a Tim Horton's franchise on Air Canada's and West Jet planes. I can't think of anything more Canadian than a lineup to buy a coffee and a donut. Perhaps Tim Hortons could sell their menu items in packages similar to food eaten by astronauts in space. It could be called the Tim Hortons anti-turbulent meal combo - coffee, sandwich, soup and a donut - all in powder form. No fear of spilling your coffee!
Toronto is Canada's largest city and is home to a large multi-cultural community. It has a very large population of immigrants, including Italians and many other Europeans. In addition, many islanders from the Caribbean call TO home. And, oh yeah, gay people make Toronto home too! As a result, Toronto has many parades celebrating numerous events throughout the year. Unfortunately, they haven't held a Stanley Cup parade in over 43 yrs and it'll likely be another hundred years before such a parade will be held there.
Today, however, our travel plans don't have us leavin the airport. But, the short layover allows us to buy our last Tim Hortons coffee and bagel for the next few weeks. Beyond today, it''ll be cappucinno's for a while. Can't think of a better alternative!
Unfortunately, while waiting at the gate to catch our overseas flight to Frankfurt, we learn our Air Canada flight is going to be delayed. Don't know why? The plane arrived a while ago and is stairing right at us. In addition, passengers are told they'll be weighed as they board the flight. Apparently some Air Canada staff also have part time jobs at the fair, where they guess your weight. Gee, we hope they don't weigh us on our return flight too, after disembarking a fourteen day cruise. Otherwise, our seats assignment might be in the cargo area.
Cheers, Rick & Elsie!
