Hello everyone!!
Sorry for the long delay in between entries for the skateboard tour. We have been enjoying the weather down in Florida, and driving around the state. I have been really busy with the new charity idea to help deaf skateboarders skate with their hearing counterparts. The bylaws are almost drawn up, and I'm going to send it to my family attorney to proof it. March has a lot of big things going on for Josh and me. The RV has been tuned up, and I'll find out on the weekend of March 12th how the mileage improved. There's the Tampa Pro's competition coming up which we have already reserved tickets, and we're almost VIP's over there, Ryan completely Supports Josh's dreams and has been VERY helpful in terms of the direction we need to go to make it "BIG". Ryan is the owner/manager along with Rob at the Spot at Tampa. They're the epitome of what skateboarding promoting should be about. They set the standards of Skateboarding life, and live it hard. They're our role models, but funny thing, we were living that kind of life already in McHenry, before we left town. It's awesome that we see other people sharing the love of this type of life. Skateboarding is a RAW, no pretense allowed, dirty lifestyle that gets down to it when it comes to surviving. There's being laid back, and down for good things in life. Life comes at your fast, so we tend to take it fast, and throw it out fast. Nothing stays forever, everything changes, life changes, and so does the industry, it's probably one of the most flexible industry I have ever studied as a business man, that can weather through even this current recession we're going through. The effects of our recession is really starting to show, and this is where skateboarders excel in survivor-ship, making the best of what we got, and we stay happy, whereas all those materialistic money money people, feel the blunt, and whine, and cry at how moneys not flowing anywhere, and their quality of life has degraded. While we skaters already enjoying the lower quality of life because we have a deck with wheels and a pair of shoes to keep us occupied and create ART through motion. Josh's style has improved dramatically, with clean lines, and slow motion tricks that draws gasps and awe from the bystanders, be it skateboarders or a pedestrian. March is also the month we're going to create a mini skate video. No not a "sponsor me" video. Just a video to showcase Josh's favorite spots he has found around Cocoa Florida. We hope to release it at the end of the month as we prepare for the west leg of our trip. California is still calling us, and we have a set date to leave for California April 9th, to arrive May 7th. Then there will be several competitions to do the next 3 months. We're going to check out the Californian Amateur Skateboard League, and do at least 4 competitions in that. As well as one in Arizona, and more. We're planning a few stops along the way, Namely Tallahassee Florida, Mobile, Alabama, Baton Rouge, and Lafayette Louisiana, and Mesa, Phoenix, Tucson Arizona, then finally end up in San Diego, then start camping and skating. We have several friends we met along the way expecting us out there, to show us skate spots, and meet people.
OOOoooh before I forget this, in March we'll be having our own websites, and I will not post the URL's until it's finished. I have found a really good low cost webhost, and will be owning 2 domain names, one for my non-profit charity, and one for Josh. My Blog will be moved over to the new websitem and will post updates from there possibly 2nd or 3rd week of March. The RV's pretty much almost done with new graphics, and I'll post pictures in this segment of the blog in a few days. Weather's getting warmer as it has been unseasonally COOOOLD in Florida, and making everyone moody, sick, cold. The house is down with the flu right now thanks to our very very unkempt roomate, mike. Driving us nutz!! with our stuffy nose, and constant sneezing and coughing. Tebow our new hearing guide dog is undergoing training as we speak. We chose to train the dog ourselves using assistance from the Florida guide dog organization to help us. Legally we're allowed to take our dog anywhere when it's in "service" but we're training, so we are exposing Tebow to large crowds, and unusual situations so he can be prepared and calm when it comes time for him to work. Tebow is now 3 1/2 months old and can do sit, stay commands. He is learning how to be walked with the leash now daily. Doing very well. Everyday for one-two hours we sit and train him in stay, down, fetch. in a Month from now we'll start training him for door knock alert, alarm clock alert, and "HEY there" alert. when someone calls our attention, tebow will tug and do it for us. Tebow is close to getting fully potty trained. If he goes 3 weeks without pissin and pooping in the house, then we can officially say he's house trained. right now his bladder's still really small, and growing. Our family in Chicago is sorely missed, and we're ready for the wilder part of our trip out west.
Whooo hoooo!!!!!
