27th September -  Time to make our way home again this morning. Gosh where has the time gone. time to say goodbye to Carol , not easy but at least we will see Carol again in April next year when they make their way to see us in Etty Bay. Graham very kindly drove us to Heathrow airport where we said our goodbyes as well. Thanks to both of you and we look forward to seeing you both next year.
Checking in at Heathrow went pretty smoothly, although we encountered the usual rudeness from there on. Don't mind getting checked but please be curteous about it and talk, don't just nod and point. Never mind , at least we finally got through and waited for our flight.
The flight over to Dubai was very good, the 380-800 really is a nice plane to travel on, very quiet and plenty of room to move. We managed to score 3 seats for the two of us as well. Arrived in Dubai on time at 12mn, did all the custom things etc and were at our hotel by 12.45am checking in. This time we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, beautiful hotel with all the bells and whistles to go with it. They escorted us to our very comfortable room with a magnificent view of Dubai at night. Once we settled in and had a shower we ordered some food as we were a little hungry. Finally by about 4am it was time to call it a day and retire for the night. Slept till late on Friday, walked down to the breakfast restaurant and had a great breakfast. We decided to catch a taxi and look around Dubai a bit and perhaps do some shopping. It all seemed very quiet to us for a Friday, that was until the taxi driver told us that most of the shops would be closed because it is their weekend that day and Saturday. Yes he was right. Went back to the hotel again shortly after, didn't mind it very much, needed some rest anyway. The hotel is situated on 75 acres of ground so we walked around the grounds instead. Wow what a beautiful place and such superb garden areas with the usual pools, tennis courts and god knows what else. We stopped at the bar at the pool area and enjoyed a couple of cool drinks and took in all the scenery. Very very nice.
The hotel is truly magnificent , great architecture and lovely decor. The staff is available for your every need at all times. Just in the breakfast area are 4 different kitchens to cook for you whatever dish you fancy., as well as all the fruits, juices and cereals you could wish for.
We relaxed for most of our stay , enjoying the luxury of room service for dinner once again.

29th Sept. Time to pack up the suitcases once again and head for the airport for our flight to Brisbane. A limousine was waiting for us outside the hotel to take us to the airport, not bad, a big black Mercedes with big leather seats, our last taste of opulance for a while. A long flight this time 13 hours 15 minutes. although it did not seem too long this time . Cannot praise Emirates enough, they realy do their darnest to make it comfortable for you. Ingrid and Zac greeted us at the airport and brought us back here, to her place. Great to see them all again. We all went to the Japanese restaurant for lunch which we are now recovering from. We are tired but feeling good.
Guess what it has been sunny and warm here for months but last night it rained ( my god not here too ) We noticed the wet tarmac but so far it has not rained again, still warm though.
Catching our flight for home tomorrow afternoon and will be home late in the afternoon. Nearly there.
