Due to lack of internet I could not post an entry the last couple of days. I have posted this entry now so if you want to know how we behaved just go back one entry, all will be revealed. As far as our behaviour goes , we have been good the last few days but did a fair bit of partying. On the 13th and 14th of July we were booked in The Trotting Mare. We stayed here last year for one night and had a fantastic time, so promised to return this year. We met lots of people here last year and enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant, which the owner cooked very well. We stayed on, had a few more drinks and by the end of the night Rick and Gary ( owner ) became best buddies. I think the alcohol had a liitle bit to do with that. Anyway that was last year.
So this year back to our old haunt,  once again we were made to feel very welcome with the invitation to visit the bar and restaurant that evening, as all the old crowd would be in as well.Rick and I had a nice dinner first in the restaurant. Gary still cooks as good as last year, Rick's favourite was belly of pork last year and even though it was not on the menu this time, Gary still cooked it for him. Nice gesture and very much appreciated as well. Not long after that the weekenders that stay there came in, and it was not long before we were all chatting again. Lovely to see some of them again , especially a couple we got on with very well last year, Peter and Marg. They actually live in the area but visit every Friday night to see everyone. So tummies full, a couple of drinks and good company made the evening pass very quickly. A late night for us but we had a good time.
The next day we repeated it all again, a bit more subdued as were we all a bit tired from the previous night. I must add that because it was rather cool outside, Gary lit the fire which gave it a good atmosphere . Another good night was had by all. Fond farewells before we all departed with the promise to stay in touch. Will do.
Before we left the campsite this morning we had a cuppa with Gary to say thank you. It was a great return visit. Not very often is it a good idea to return to a particular spot as it is never the same , but we will always think fondly of our stays at the Trotting Mare.
Currently we are parked a a nice caravan park near Coventry. Not doing anything here but it is close to Stradford on Avon, and Kennilworth Castle which we will visit tomorrow on our way back to Alcock. A bit of sunshine now and again but better than what it has been.
Looking forward to it.
