Ys we are only 16km from our ferry crossing in Calais. We arrived here yesterday afternoon. Basil took us on a detour to the caravan park , taking us through little narrow country roads most of the way. It all seemed too remote even for us but as we came close to the campsite we realised that Basil took a shortcut and we ended up on the main road ,very close to the caravan park. This area  is very rich in nature and has lots of walking trails. Our participation in all of that goes as far as reading the brochure and staying home. It is very cold here,  grey skies in the mornings, and being on the ocean also very windy. The temperature does not get over 15 or 16 degrees, a good day to stay inside and read our kindles. Our stay here was always going to be just rest so we are happy as Larry. Hopped in Charlie this afternoon to go to the supermarket. The biggest supermarkets here are called Carrefour, they sell just about anything you may want and more. The one near here is enormous, the reason being is that it is near the entrance and exit of the Channel Tunnel. As most of you know by now, alcohol is very cheap here in France and this Carrefour has the biggest section of wine , spirits and beer we have seen so far. The liquor section alone is about the size of any lnormal supermarket .Carrefour is visited by  Brits on their way back to the UK, and buying their grog cheap. We were aware that this was happening and good on them. What we did not know, the quantity of alcohol they were buying. We do not know if there is a limit on the amount you can bring into the UK but some of these people had a couple of trolleys full with it all. Hundreds and hundreds of euros worth, all going into their cars and motorhomes. There is even a special parking place for them . We just kept looking at these people. After a while we said, why not , it saves them a fortune. Our 6 bottles of Merlot and 12 cans of beer looked pretty pathetic all of a sudden, but we are very limited with storage space.
We hope to take a bit of a drive around this area tomorrow just to see what there is. Very barren here but the villages look nice.
Crossing the channel on Thursday.
No photos Ingrid, sorry but our hands are too cold to hold a camera. I know, bloody sooks.
Forgot to mention that from our site we can see the white cliffs of Dover. A little special for us
