We had a very pleasant stay in Nimes and probably could have stayed there a little longer, but we were told that the scenic route from Nimes to Millau was very beautiful and not too difficult to manage. So off we went again, a revisit to Millau was appealing as well. We visited Millau last year , only to take a look at the bridge or Viaduct as they call it here. It was a sight not to be missed . We had a few days to spare so a trip here was no hardship. From Nimes we took the road to a village called Sauve, this must be the oldest village we have ever seen . Everything was well preserved and looked after, no mean feat and would be expensive as well. From there we drove to Hippolyte du Forte, a little place in the middle of the mountains. We did ask each other how the people managed to drive up and down the hills every day , it's very steep and the town was situated right down the bottom. A lot more scenery driving through steep hills to Le Vigan. We did not stop there and moved on to Millau. We approached the city from a different direction than last year and were very pleasantly surprised . As we came around the corner , there was the valley with the township of Millau streched before us and just behind that the bridge dominated the skyline. Magnificant view.
Arrived at the caravan park during their rest time or quiet time as they say here, so the office was closed. The note on the door said to go ahead and find a site . We found the same site as last year and parked Charlie in her usual spot. She was absolutely over the moon about that and leveled herself for us straight away. Good girl, all we had to do is plug in the power and put the kettle on. Baguettes and cheese ( 5 different kinds ) for lunch. It was a little windy and cooler than Nimes but we went for a walk into town anyway. Found a hairdresser that was still open and walked in to have a haircut. My hair is pretty yuk at the best of times but it was getting a little past that point so a cut was in order. Well I have now had a French haircut , looks good, a little different than usual but also a little French.
We stayed up late last night and watched the European Cup ( soccer) Chelsea v Bayern Munich. Chelsea won but only by penalty shoot out.  Graham will not be happy because it pushes Arsenal out of the cup next year. Not a good result for you Graham. I suppose Clare will feel the same. David might be smiling a bit though. Frank and Marion, our german friends will also be a little sad and surprised that Chelsea won. To be honest so were we.
A late get up this morning, it has rained most of the night and is still raining this morning. We were going into town to have a coffee and something sweet but it is too cold and wet. The only option now is to get comfy , get the kindle out and for me to make lots of cups of tea instead. Life could be a lot worse. We are staying here until Tuesday when we will be on our way again for our visit to Rick's sister Sally and her husband Phil. they have a cottage in Azille which is close to Carcassonne and we have been invited to visit them for a few days. We are both looking forward to it.
So a lazy day in Charlie listening to the rain. We realy do not mind .

Goonermarch on

Just to put the record straight Claire and me were happy bunnies and David was the sad one because Tottenham who finished fourth in the league would normally expect to go into the Champions League next year but because Chelsea who had finished sixth in the league yet won the Champions League final which meant they not Tottenham go into the Champions League next year at the expense of Tottenham because only four teams from each country are allowed to enter. Come on you gunners!
