. The palace is divided into two- the private wing where members of the royal family live and the historic state apartments which we were able to visit. We were able to meander through various sections all relating to periods in history. Not knowing a lot about English history it was sometimes hard to follow which was which. Queen Victoria's period meant the most to me personally and I enjoyed that part of the exhibition. Another section was the Remembering a Princess and was all about Diana. They exhibited 5 of her dresses and other various photos of her. It was interesting to look at the golden gate outside the palace where the public placed all the floral tributes upon her death. You can imagine how far all these flowers streched into the gardens. It would have been a very impressive sight.
All to soon it was time to catch a bus to take us back to the station and go home. We always enjoy London, it is just a nice place to walk around in. We will return another day.
Today the 4 of us went for a visit to Kensington Palace London. Graham drove us all to the railway station where we caught the underground to Gloucester Park Station, from where we had a short walk through Kensington to the palace grounds. The architecture was out of this world to look at and it was a pleasure to walk through and look at it all. Fortunately they are very careful to retain and preserve the area ,and you only find a few spots here and there where they have pulled something down and build a modern structure. Not too many thank goodness. As soon as we entered the grounds we decided to have our picnic lunch before we entered the Palace and found a park bench to sit and eat. A little bit windy but the sun was out and that made a bit of difference. The Palace itself is not very impressive at all, and almost looks as it was built on the cheap. Still it is very old and has stood the ills of time very well. Kensington Palace has been home to a range of royal residents since the late 1600s. Some of the most important moments in royal history happened right there in the building
