A trip through the city of Dubai today. We know that the city is a lot bigger than what we have seen so far but did nor realise how much bigger and also the construction still going on. One building more spectacular than the next. We love the various shapes of them as well. Yes Dubai is very big and still growing as well. Certain building projects have been stopped due to the economic downturn. It is not unusual to see half a overpass going to nowhere with no future plans to finish it as yet. Their highway are sometimes 7 lanes wide with hardly any cars on them. Everything they do they do with the future growth in mind. The development which takes the shaape of the world has just about ceased also but we were reassured that it will be finished one day. So far the only building completed is the Sheik's daughter's palace. Funny don't you think?
After having spend a few days here the city is still exciting and we will make a return visit next year. We will probably hire a car so we can drive to different places as well. We will leave you with a few more images of Dubai. Hopefully they will wet your appetite.
Tomorrow morning we will leave here, our flight to Brisbane departs here at 10.25am so will have to get up a little early, have some toast perhaps and catch a taxi to the airport. Taxis are not a problem here, there are so many of them around. Decided to spoil ourselves one more time and asked room service ro bring our dinner up.Rick had a burger and I had some fish and chips, boy it looks funny when they push the trolley in with just that. We ejoyed it anyway and it was nice to stay in our room for a change.
We had a super last day here and look forward to a return visit.
