Get ready London you are about to get 4 recycled teenagers for a day. We purchased a ticket which enabled us to catch any bus or train for the day and all for 9pound. Caught the bus to Chelmsford station, then the train to Liverpool Street station. Liverpool station is a beautiful old building refurbished without spoiling its character. Caught the double decker bus  to Trafalgar Square , wow everything we have heard about and seen on TV, movies etc is there, right in front of you. All we could say was hey we are realy here, and everything we are seeing is real. Lots and lots of people there of course but that didn't seem to matter. Carol and Graham acted as our tour guides which was a bonus for us as they are very well informed about London.
Decided to walk to Buckingham Palace, this is a beautiful walk. The tree lined Pall Mall is everything we thought it would be, a good lead up to the palace passing Clarence House, St James Palace leading in to Buck House. The queen was home and the royal standard was flying. Seemed like something was about to happen there as lots of people were very dressed up, London bobbies ( old bill ) everywhere. Feel sorry for the guards , they have to stand so very still.
Strolled through St James Park to Horse Guard parade which took us to the back of Downing Street, through the arch of horse guard parade to the front entrance of Downing Street and  walked to the Houses of Parliament and of course Big Ben ( magnificent building ) and then Westminster Abbey. After all that we decided we needed a break and some food so caught the bus back to Trafalgar Square, found a nice Italian restaurant and had a very nice lunch.Ate too much of course so decided to walk it off and visit the National Gallery. This is a magnificent building and of course its contents are great. /great artists are shown there, we only just had a taste of it. So much to see but would love to spend a few days there . Piccadilly Circus next. Piccadilly Circus is a lot smaller than I thought and is a very tight roundabout realy with lots of traffic everywhere. Still good to be there though. Home via the underground. What a big day and oh so lovely. Thanks Graham and Carol for giving us a super day and showing us around.
