Mon 9th Jan

Woke at 4am, packed up the tent and caught the shuttle bus at 5am to Coral Bay via Giralia. Coral Bay looked nice and the sun was shining so we pitched our tent at the 'Peoples Park', but within an hour a torrential thunder storm arrived unexpectedly and both us and some of our bags got soaked. Fortunately, the tent held up to the on-slaught but the rain was in for the night so the park owners offered us the use of a cabin for the night and we jumped at the chance so after fish and chips plus a couple of beers we settled down to a nice nights sleep on a comfortable bed again.

Tue 10th Jan

The next morning we packed up our tent and checked into the 'Ningaloo Backpackers' as more rain was promised. We went snorkeling in the afternoon along the Ningaloo Reef, which is a really nice area to see lots of colourful coral as well as shark, but cos of the bad weather (being generated by Cyclone Claire), the visibility was poor and the wind strong, which meant the waves were coming over the top of our snorkels so we didn't really benefit from our time.

That night, in our twin with no air con or fan the room was boiling. No rain had come so we felt that our money had been wasted. Just as we were getting off to sleep, the band started and didn't stop until 12am! I wouldn't have minded if the singer could sing, the drummer could drum and the guitarist could strum, but they couldn't and it was probably some of the worst live music I have ever heard. You could tell we were getting used to being in the tent already.
