Stayed at Gong Kaew guesthouse which was really nice and really chilled. Awesome outdoor common area for relaxing in sun or shade with free internet PCs and wifi. Plus free tea, coffee and toast all day.

Visited Wat Phra Singh, Chiang Mai Arts & Culture Centre and Wat Sri Suphan.
Went to the night market with Dennis from Holland and then a few beers afterwards with a free dodgy Muay Thai show. Eventually found a bar to just play pool and have a beer and then found a cool reggae bar with a great band.

Friday hired a scooter and rode up to Wat Doi Suthep which was a beautiful ride up winding mountain roads with only a small amount of traffic once I got out of Chiang Mai town.
Good views over Chiang Mai and the region and good inside, if a little crowded with tourists.
Got blessed by a Buddhist monk and he tied a white cotton bracelet round my wrist which is supposed to be for good luck (I think...).
The ride back down the mountain was just as nice as the ride up with a nice cool breeze on my face. Stopped at Huay Kaew Waterfall on the way back down.
Dropped in at a few music stores back in Chiang Mai (handy having the scooter instead of having to walk all over town!) and ended up buying a cheap "Dream" guitar for 1000 baht (about 20 Euro!). It's really cheaply made, needs retuning a lot and not the nicest to play, but sounds OK and costs so little i don't care if it gets broken or lost on the road. I saw a decent nice one for 6000 baht but couldn't justify paying 6 times more...

Went for dinner with Dennis and Lena from Germany then went to the reggae bar again. Drank Dennis' margarita bucket cause he ordered it without realising that it had tequila in it!

Saturday had a lazy day trying out my new guitar and then Lena dropped by our guesthouse and we went for a drink at Riverside and then dinner at the night markets. Came back and had a bit of a jam with Dennis as he has a guitar too.

Sunday hired a scooter again and rode out to Tiger Kingdom and Wat Chet Yod which had some really old Chedi's and ruins.
Then went to Wat U-Mong which had the nicest feel to any of the temples yet. It was the most tranquil with hardly any tourists and you can see the monks going about their normal daily activities. They also had a nice fish pond and some cool tunnels and art.
I got lost going to Wat U-Mong but when I stopped at a 7/11 to ask for directions I was lucky to meet one of the locals, Toon, who said she was going that way and for me to follow her on my scooter. Then because she took me through a bunch of back streets to get there I got lost trying to get back to Chiang Mai leaving the temple! :)

The Sunday Night Walking Market in Chiang Mai is really cool. They close off a bunch of streets in the middle of town and there are no fake clothes, watches, dvds, handbags etc. just all local handcrafts and food.
Best market I've been to ever I reckon...

Monday went on the Jungle Flight tour where you whizz around the jungle on zip wires. Heaps of fun.
