A slight improvement but not much!

After Komodo National Park we sailed an hour or so further along the coast to Kalong Island where we had dinner and overnighted. After a banana pancake breakfast (hurray) we then sailed to Rinca Island which is another national park and where they also have Komodo dragons. After the disappointment of Komodo National Park i wasn't expecting much and a good job too as this one was slightly better but not by much. This time the group elected to do the long hike which took 1hr 40mins but we still only saw two dragons whilst doing it. There were however six of them at the ranger station by the start of the trek and two by the cafe at the end of the trek (just snacks and warm drinks again). It’s such a shame as both islands have so much potential for tourism development but if this is all you get to experience people won’t bother making the effort. A brilliant idea would be too have 4-wheel drive 'safari’ trips round the island dragon spotting like they do on African safari’s. After leaving Rinca we had one last stop for lunch and swimming at ‘Paradise Beach’ before reaching Labanbajo around 4pm. Would i recommend the ‘cruise’ to other travellers? Despite the negatives such as the lack of fresh seafood that they should be able to catch easily (or failing that buy from passing fishing boats or in island villages) and the lack of Komodo dragons YES I WOULD. It was a very relaxing way to spend 4 days and watch the world go by.
