Nonetheless, a good day out was had by all!
Visited Angkor Wat 17 years ago on my last visit in 1995 and it's certainly alot busier now than it was then! Visiting Cambodia was advised against by the Foreign Office (and many other govts too) for being too dangerous so only a few hardy & intrepid soles made the journey. Those that did thus had the place pretty much to ourselves. I remeber their being hardly any other tourists and the only way to get around the sites was on the back of a motorbike hired in town. Now its mainly done in minivan or tuc-tuc and there are hundres if not thousands of them. There are also an incredible amount of Chinese tour groups going around it. As the Chinese become more wealthy and more of them have disposal income to spend on holidays abroad things can only get worse.
