I had intended to take the train on a stretch of what was going to be Rhodes' Cape to Cairo railway. However, there is only one train a day leaving at 9 pm arriving Francistown at 5 am.
This did not seem to be a good idea - my new pals in Gabs actively discouraged the route & plied me with sufficient Tulbach cabernet over an extended lunch at George's
Google earth reference to be inserted her
- so I took the bus the next day - a conventional coach taking about 5 1/2 hours costing P51
(At the time of writing there are c. P12.5 to the Pound; the US$ is 2 to the Pound)
Francistown is a dusty junction town; I found the Metcourt Lodge - classic motel type comfort with TV, a/c and even free wifi internet with access restricted to google and therefore gmail - great.. P380
The Lodge has an adjacent steakhouse - another T-bone - life's a drag.
