What a day I have had, Iceland definatley lives up to its reputation and has been a gem on this trip.

I organised a day trip to Porsmork national park which is in the south west of the island. Porsmork is rated as one of the top spots on the island to see and I can see why.

I got picked up at 8 from my hostel and we got driven to Porsmork on the main road passing through some stunning natural scenery, it was only going to get better from here. We entered off the main road which on to a gravel road where we passed a 60 meter waterfall where we would stop later on. As we were driving through the park on the gravel road we were passing through streams in this rocky gourge with green hills and snow capped mountains in the background it was really scenic.

Our first stop was a massive glacier right next to a lake and was really beatiful it was just a shame the weather was not that much better. Our second stop was to the campsite of Portsork where we took a short stroll up the hill to a scenic point which provided us with a good view point  of the valley bellow and was pretty nice, after lunch I managed to take a stroll around and get some great views of the rock terrain with the green moutains in the distance with the snow capped mountans behind them it really was quite specatcular. Our 3rd stop on the trip was when we walked to a waterfall through a gourge where we had to jump over streams which were coming down from the hills. The gourge was really beatiful and the water feezing but really good to drink. When we got to the waterfall I managed to hike right up to it and look down upon it from the view point it was pretty nice. Our last stop was the 60 meter waterfall where you could actually walk right behind the fall whilst getting pretty soaked especially from the splash back but was stunning with the green grass and a beatiful blue waterfall in the distance.

Since I have been in Iceland, it is hard to fault the Icelanders. They are a really freindly bunch and very well educated. When you walk around the capital you here a mixture of english and Icelandic all the time and everyone speaks English. The lonely planet says that if you know of a safe city than Reykavik to let them know and they are definatley right there, the place is so safe and clean it is ridicoulous. I really like the culture here and the general Scandanavian culture in general, they are really polite and freindly people and very welcoming. I would love to one day live in Scandanvia ideally Stockholm or Norway because of the high standard of living but I dont know about Iceland, it might just be a little bit to quite for me I think as Reykavik reminds me of the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and its a little bit to small for me, but still a lovely place.
