Today we leave the city of Perth for the small town of Fremantle. Its basically a small town which has nearly been swallowed by Perth city but the locals very much think of it as a town in its own right.

We get checked into the Old Firestation Hostel which is just five minutes walk from the train station. Its a pretty cool place with free tv, movies, internet, pool table, table tennis and Playstation with Pro Evolution 4. Yep, its pretty good.

Wandering round Fremantle it's very picturesque with lots of old frontier style buildings and hotels. There are a couple of little beaches down by the port but they're not too nice for sitting out on. There are also lots of fish and chip places which look pretty good.

They have markets here over the weekend so we take a wander round these but they're mostly selling tourist tat.

Its tradition in Perth on a Sunday to head to the pub for a Sunday Session so it would seem rude not to. We head to the Norfolk Hotel for a couple of beers in their beer garden. Its a pretty cool bar, like The Villager without the pretension and rude bar staff.

Fremantle already seems like a more interesting place than Perth. It's like its cooler younger brother or something.

We spend the evening drinking beers in the beer garden at the hostel and then head to our room where we watch Starksy and Hutch, both new and old, on our TV. Yep, we've got a double room with a TV and a fridge. Living Large.
