Champasak is a one-road town along the river, with nothing there to do except visit the old wat ruins (exactly why I was there...).
The ruins are about a 10km bike ride into the middle of the countryside past a very stretched out set of houses and shops.
The ruins themselves are Angkor-style but on a smaller scale (obviously), just a few buildings at the base of a hill and then a steep, but thankfully short, climb up to the main worship building at the top. Chilling out at the top looking over the Mekong delta wastes a good bit of time.
To get there I had to go through Pakse, which I walked around for half
an hour - it's a small market town with nothing to do by the looks of
it.
