I still have to write some previous pages but meanwhile in short, an update.
Visiting friends;…old friends/ old old friends/young old friends / family members etc has been my main activity during the last few days and provided me with pleasant/ funny/ emotional/ educational/ interesting times (take your pick of any combination) Last night I arrived home late and went to bed at about 2 Am only to be awoken by Rob at 7 Am this morning as we had agreed to put the VW engine back into to car.
Of course things always look easy but the reality is that a five minute job can take an hour or more
My things were already packed and the BMW motorcycle ready to go. The plan was to head for Norway but a check on the weather made me ditch that plan as I don't fancy riding to a city (Stavanger) where it is only 15 degrees and than face very high mountain passes where I can expect the temperatures to drop to perhaps 10 degrees or lower.
Dead on two pm I left Rob's place and headed east towards Germany. I had already booked my hostel so I had a goal. Just over an hour later I crossed into Germany and by 9 PM I entered and crossed the border of the Czech Republic to arrive shortly afterwards at a place called Cheb (which I will Czeck out (sic) out in the morning)
The place looks pretty so deserves some time. From here I will head further south into Slovenia and /or Croatia and promised myself to take it easy as today I have hammering it at a steady 130 km per hour most of the afternoon, as I needed to cover the 780 km distance before it was getting dark. Giving me an average of just over 100km per hour including three stops and some slow riding due to road works.
