The weekend before we left for South America, I fulfilled one of my life long dreams of seeing Oprah (this is Hannah writing this by the way – pretty sure it's not on Richard 'to do’ list!). Mum and I went to the ‘Live Your Best Life’ weekend. It consisted of 3 days of Oprah related activities. Now, before I went to this, I thought I had an unhealthy obsession with Oprah, but it turns out there are people worse then me who actually believe she is some sort of God. At times it felt like we were praying at the altar of Oprah!! When she spoke there was a lot of ‘amen sister’, ‘mmmm hmmmm, yes that’s right sister’ going on.

The Oprah ‘convention’ as I like to call it, started on Friday with drinks and nibbles and we got given a goody bag with heaps of freebies and our ‘schedule' for the weekend. On the Saturday morning we arrived about an hour early and the line to get in was 4 blocks long, however the line moved very fast, I have a feeling Oprah has done this before because it was a very slick operation and everything about the weekend was run with military precision.  Oprah did a greeting in the morning then we went to talks from Dr Oz, Nate and Martha Beck (who was great).  That night we went to Radio City Hall where Oprah was on stage by herself for an hour and a half just talking about her life, she was so inspiring and amazing – I feel all the way back in love with her – after a brief time of me being off her after reading an unauthorized biography about her, but that’s another story. So, the third day was some walk for charity through NYC – but we flagged that. Instead we took mum out for mothers day!

Oh yeah – we got another goody bag on the Saturday – this one was a really nice hand bag and inside was, L’Oreal moisturizer, t shirt, hat, socks (all for the walk I guess) toilet bag and other such things. But alas, no free car, house, or other elaborate gift.
