Drove north to Albuquerque - where we did in fact take a left turn on the old route 66. That meant a lot of neon signs and lots of diners and motels. Stayed in 'route 66 hostel' which was old and much hotter than we'd hoped for. Good atmosphere though and we managed to get away without doing our 'chore' since we were the first awake and everything was already clean. It also made it easy to stash cereal in our bags and go have breakfast elsewhere than use their powdered milk.

The rattlesnake museum was great - hopefully its the only time we see them, and we have certainly been a tad more edgy since learning how great at camouflage they are. The man at the counter thought we would love the Steve Irwin and platypus exhibits.

Really liked Albuquerque - still unsure about the corn chips and salsa with breakfast though.
