The palace had s vast array of rooms for everything from cooking which our guide described as womens exercise (Martin i instantly thought of you at this time) seperate rooms for men and women to sleep, dining room etc etc. the guide was fantastic and really made the tour for us.
We grabbed some lunch before a boat ride on lake pichola which included a stop off at one off at Jagmandir Island on the lake which was a hotel for the rich and famous, Shakira performed there last year. depending on the season rooms ranged from 18000rs to 48000rs a night, it was a lovely tranquil setting but a little bit beyonda poor backpackers budget.
The Spanish lads decided to head home after this but Olga and i went to crystal palace (not selhurst park) which is a part of the palace showing made to order crystal for the kings from a producer back home in Birmingham, mum would have loved this they had everything from the biggest chandelier i have ever seen to arm chairs, and some wine glasses for mum! The crazy thing about this was that it was shipped from the midlands in the early 1900s and sat packed in boxes for over 100 years which is unbelievable when you see the items and also the amount they must be worth.
On the way home we finally found a stall selling a watermelon which we purchased a 6kg one for 60rs (75p) mental, the only downside of been in the prescence of a lady was the fact i had to wander around town carrying this back to our guest house , it must have been a funny site for the locals to see a white man in udaipur carrying a 6kg watermelon.
