We have a group of Canadians working on different projects here at the orphanage right now. They come in teams of around 30 people for two weeks and then leave when the new group shows up.  I believe there are 4 groups total.

Well, I was lucky enough to accompany the first group to Montelimar Beach and stay at an all-inclusive resort overnight.  The resort was incredible.  Instead of a typical large building with a ton of rooms the resort consisted of two rooms units spread out over the property.  You walked out of your room and after about 150 meters you were on the private beach and walking along the Pacific Ocean.

My favorite part of the trip was the food.  After two months of beans and rice the site of a buffet almost brought me to tears.  Here is a list of what I had for lunch… and yes, this is ONLY lunch.

3 pieces of lasagna

2 pieces of watermelon

3 pieces of cantaloupe

Alfredo pasta

3 pieces of bread

Salad

7 olives

2 pieces of cake

2 scoops of ice cream with candy and coconut

3 glasses of wine

1 glass of water

That night I closed out the "nightclub".  The nightclub wasn't much to speak of, but hey, it was something to do and I was hell-bent on the Canadians getting their money out of me.  After leaving the club I made my way back to my room.  It was about 75 degrees and not a cloud in the sky so I decided to lie on the hammock outside of my room for a few minutes.  Well, I woke up at 4am to the 60 year old Canadian I was staying with asking me, “Ryan, what the hell are you doing outside?”  I truly was born to be a beach bum…

My only regrets from this resort are that I wasn’t able to eat more or steal that magnificent hammock when I left.  The 24 hours we were there was absolute bliss.
