The forecast was quite correct (hence the stay in a hotel) the weather has deteriorated somewhat.  Yesterday was quite cold (about 16C) with a bitter wind which made it feel colder.  The gauling thing is that they are having a heat wave at home.

But....we don't let that spoil our fun do we?  On Thursday we went to see Vinnie and Hils' new shared crash pad which is spectacular.  Very modern, beautiful, convenient for the city and not that expensive because they are sharing with two girls.

On the way back from IKEA (where they purchased a matress to get them started) we popped in to see Hils' Uncle and his partner.  They are very entertaining and this afternoon we are going to see Uncle in an arty theatrical production and this evening we meet up with Ross and Jono (two of my OzBus buddies). We also went for a great meal at the restaurant where their friend is head chef.  So all in all Melbourne seems the place to be.

It's a very pretty, clean city and yesterday morning I took myself off with my  map to explore.  I found a McD (where I had breakfast!),a fruit stall (where I bought apples and bananas, my staple diet), a 7/11 (where I bought chocolate).  Then Vinnie and Hils came and save me from my food excesses.

My grandson's niece Lotty has just arrived in Melbourne and we joined her for lunch and a little drink  (little for me, I baled out and left them to it).  Lotty is a very fun girl and will be in Sydney when I'm there so we agreed to meet up.

I had a bit of a problem this morning.  I have a washer/dryer in my bathroom and last night decided to wash and dry all my clothes - everything!  This morning the washing was still damp.   Everytime I tried to re-programme the wretched machine to dry only it dumped more water into the cylinder.  What do you do under those circumstances? Panic!!!  And the hairdryer wasn't working either.  I called housekeeping and they sent a replacement dryer and an idiots guide on how to use the machine, which I still couldn't work.  Finally a very nice young man came to gently and politely assist me. I felt like the idiot that I am.  So, in an hour of two I hope that I will again be fully clothed, ready to face the world again.

Apart from the weather, it all seems great. Glad Melbourne is so nice and you are meeting up with Ross and Jono - and I remember him as being your good buddy on the epic trip and as writing a super blog at the time which complemented yours, Greetings to him from this Reader! How come they are in Oz? And great to meet Lotty - did you know much about her before? Keep telling us about your adventures, they're great to read!
