For a while I have harboured a daydream that as I had travelled overland from London to New York it would be great to continue the theme and complete my homeward journey by ship.

I had half heartedly googled the idea but couldn't tie my dates in with any possiblity. Yesterday I put my thoughts into words and this morning my collegues in the office informed me that the QM2 leaves New York for Southampton on 6th July.

As we arrive in New York on 21st June I think that would be pretty much perfect and I should be capable of amusing myself for 2 weeks in a shopping mecca. I will, after all, have to throw out my back packing junk and buy a whole new wardrobe more befiting to my new station in life!

I might even be able to pursuade a friend or two to fly in to keep me company for a few days. So...press the send button. Booked!!

Memo to self - they seemed very keen to keep me out of the office for another three weeks. Mmmmm!!
