After much calculation and hyperventilation I've realized I have to get a job. Money was disappearing fast! Odd how that happens. I looked without luck in Cairns and finally decided to check out this company I heard about in Perth. They are like a temp agency for country pubs and the like. You go in and get sent out to a pub in the middle of no where - either a small farm town or a mining community or something. All food and accom are included and the weekly salary is pretty decent. I called them up from Cairns and heard that there were lots of openings and that they could place me right away so I promptly hopped on a plane to Perth. Since I arrived in the middle of the night on Friday I had to wait until Monday to head down to the office. The weekend was great and I met tons of people. I was told that it is quite easy to get office temp work here in Perth and that maybe I should try that. After much internal debate (and reviewing of my bank account) I decided to do the country pub thing anyways. I figured I didn't fly around the world to work as a office temp (although I do know I will end up doing that at some point anyways), I wanted to try working in a pub, a country town would be cool and different and I couldn't afford to live until I found an office job and got paid. So decision made I marched down to the agency. Despite my lack of pub experience (working in, not drinking in - got lots of experience drinking in a pub) I was very quickly placed. They wanted me to leave tomorrow but this place is so small that the bus doesn't go every day. In fact I'm not even getting the bus to my final destination, the pub owner will be coming to pick me up and take me to the farm town. The next bus is on Wednesday which gives me a bit of time to say goodbye to all my new friends at the hostel. I'm really excited and kind of nervous. I've never worked in a pub before and I've never really lived any place really small. I am not sure what to expect and am freaking out about whether or not my cell phone will have reception or if there will be an Internet place or if they'll have coffee . . . stupid stuff I know :) Woohoo! I'm going to be a bar wench! It'll be great!
